Michael Denike

Michael Denike has a lifelong history with fishing and the seafood industry. Mike’s many years of experience as a commercial fisher and captain in the Pacific North West provided him with a solid foundation for his business venture. Mike is president and owner of Sundance Seafoods Ltd. He founded the salmon and seafood products company in 1989 in order to be closer to his then young family.

Through his business acumen, firsthand knowledge of West Coast seafood, and his ongoing relationships with fishers, Mike built his company into a premiere Canadian seafood company. Sundance Seafoods is now one of the major wholesale distributors of smoked salmon and seafood products in North America. In 2012, Sundance Seafoods’ West Coast Select salmon jerky and smoked king salmon were part of International Space Station menu – the second time Mike’s salmon products went into space!

Mike maintains a solid understanding of West Coast fish and fisheries, and what it means to be “fishers who take care of their catch.” He knows first-hand the importance of sustainable fisheries and what needs to be done in order to continue to harvest the world-class salmon and other seafood that are the heart of Sundance Seafoods.
